SULTAN Abdul Halim Airport (LTSAH) in Alor Setar, Kedah, will operate as usual during the administrative enhanced movement control order period in Kota Setar district.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad said in a recent statement that during this period, those who wish to travel through the airport must obtain permission from the police.

“All passengers are reminded to comply with standard operating procedures while they are at the airport such as using the MySejahtera application, wearing face masks and maintaining physical distancing, ” it said.

Meanwhile, LTSAH manager Lokman Ahmad said when contacted by Bernama that passengers living in areas that have been placed under the administrative enhanced MCO are not allowed to leave or enter the Kota Setar district through the airport without police permission.

“However, passengers from other states or districts can proceed with their trips, ” he said.

On Thursday, Kota Setar district, where the airport is located, was put under administrative enhanced MCO for two weeks by the Federal Government until Sept 23.

This followed a spike in new Covid-19 case clusters, including one that stemmed from Kota Medical Centre that spread to 18 staff members of the hospital.

None of the 366,787 residents in the district are allowed to leave and outsiders may not enter.

All educational institutions and houses of worship must close and no recreational, social or sports activities are allowed.
