THE new season of the English Premier League kicks off this Saturday and football fans here are in for a real treat, thanks to Astro’s comprehensive coverage of all 380 live matches.

Liverpool finally managed to win the Premier League title after a three-decade wait and will be favourites, along with Man City, to go all the way again this season while Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal will be hoping to upset the formbook.

With Astro Sports Pack, football fans can have front row seats to experience every moment of Premier League drama.

Astro Group chief operating officer and TV chief executive officer Euan Smith is also looking forward to the new season.

“Sports fans are some of our most engaged and enthusiastic viewers.

“With live sports making their return, Astro is back stronger and more excited than ever to serve Malaysian sports fans with the biggest sporting events from around the world.

“And there’s no bigger and more exciting football league than the Premier League.

“Besides providing comprehensive coverage, we are taking football viewing to the next level with our Ultra Box and Broadband offering live matches in unparalleled 4K UHD.

“Fans also will never miss a sporting moment with our Astro Go companion apps, streaming exclusive Premier League programmes on demand wherever and whenever they wish.

“We’re mindful that as we navigate the ongoing global situation, it is vital for us to find new ways to engage customers and sports fans virtually.

“We see headroom for growth in sports, and are pushing hard on new ways to drive value and revenue in the digital space, ” said Smith, a die-hard Liverpool fan.

As the official and exclusive Premier League broadcaster in Malaysia, Astro brings sports fans all 380 matches live on TV and Astro Go.

With live sports making a comeback, the satellite TV provider will also once again provide its customers with the biggest global sporting events like the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A, as well as other sports including Formula 1, Moto GP, UFC and NBA.

The launch of Astro’s comprehensive package for the upcoming season was made even more special with a virtual appearance by former Man Utd defender Gary Neville.

The former England international shared his thoughts on the new season and expects a close and exciting fight among the big clubs.

“Man City will be raring to go and knowing Pep Guardiola, he will be extremely eager to snatch the league title from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

“Klopp’s side were magnificent last term and deserving champions but I am going for Man City to win the league in this campaign, ” said Neville.

In partnership with Astro, the Premier League will also be launching its first anti-piracy campaign, “Boot Out Piracy” which aims to raise awareness on the risks fans face when watching matches via illegal streams such as malware and ransomware, which often lead to data theft and fraud.

Astro Sports head CK Lee said, “Astro is constantly looking for new ways for fans to live out their passion for sports and engage with their sporting heroes.

“By going digital, we are able to offer a money-can’t-buy experience like virtual meet-and-greets with Premier League footballers and pundits.

“In addition, look out for live match viewing parties with Astro SuperSport hosts and talents and opportunities to win exclusive merchandise, ” said Lee.

The staunch Aston Villa supporter added that fans can stay up-to-date with Premier League and everything sports with 500 hours of supporting programmes like Fanzone, The Kelly & Wrighty Show, Premier League Daily, pre-match shows, post-match discussions and match highlights.
