THE race for the grand prize of either a condominium unit at HighPark Suites or RM20,000 cash is back on.
Gamuda Land’s “Through Your Lens” photography contest returns with its fourth and final theme: Nature and Environment.
Introduced in January 2020, the photography contest has garnered more than a thousand meaningful pictures showcasing firstly “community”, then “town-making” and “design innovation” in the first three months of the competition respectively.
However, the contest was paused during the movement control order (MCO) period.
Gamuda Land chief executive officer Ngan Chee Meng thanked participants for their submissions so far, saying, “It has been a humbling journey seeing all the wonderful photos and thoughtful messages submitted.
The final instalment of the contest will run from Sept 1 to 30, with the same rules and regulations applied during the launch.
Ngan said the final theme of “Through Your Lens” was timely as the pandemic had invoked our appreciation of the environment.
Since the MCO, many have started to increase their exposure to nature for some fresh air, which is reflected in a sudden surge of social media posts and keyword searches on scenic nature walk locations.
“Respecting nature and the environment is one of Gamuda Land’s brand values that we hold close to our heart. It is central to our town-making, whereby we listen to what the land has to tell us when developing our projects.
“We consciously take into consideration natural elements such as the land topography, native plant species, existing biodiversity, water bodies and more when developing a new project.
“Gone are the days when one travels far to be close to nature. When town-making is done right, the beauty of nature can be consumed right on one’s doorstep,” said Ngan.
“To do it right, our team commits to conduct biodiversity audit in our developments prior to any groundwork.
“This will serve as a benchmark for future audits to determine the environmental health and wellness in our developments.
“This is one of our ways to scientifically quantify our mindful approach to town-making, and to gauge the effectiveness of our programmes in growing the biodiversity in our townships.”
He said the photos and captions submitted for September’s theme should creatively demonstrate Gamuda Land’s effort in caring for nature and the environment.
It could be through shots of animals, rare species of plants, Gamuda Land’s signature central parks in all its townships, verdant greenery or natural landscaping, he added.
Meanwhile, the winners of Responsible Town-Maker,
Design Innovation as well as the final theme will be revealed in October along with the grand prize winner.
