Celebrate National Day with local artists at Gurney Plaza in Penang

JOIN Gurney Plaza in celebration of this year’s National Day by supporting gifted homegrown artists.

With the initiative to nurture arts in the community, the Our Anthem Art Exhibition showcases talents of young award-winning local artists.

Held in collaboration with the Penang State Exco for Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH), the exhibition takes centrestage from Aug 20 to Sept 9 at the mall’s Extension Wing Atrium, housed by Yeon Chye Art Studio, a renowned artist in the local art scene.

Among the 26 artists featured are Chooi Yew Seng, Leong Miao Sheng, Chen Zhe Rui and Lim Yu Jing.

Meanwhile, the Live up Merdeka! Irama Merdeka initiative provides a platform for local buskers.

Catch live performances at the Extension Wing Atrium from Aug 21 to 23 and Aug 28 to 31 (5pm onwards), as a group of local buskers come together to entertain shoppers for the evening.

Shoppers can express their love for the country through a Cuti Around Malaysia Facebook contest from Aug 24 to Sept 2.

All you need to do is to share your photo of any famous landmark in Malaysia on the comment section of the contest’s main post. Name the landmark, tag three friends and you will be in the running to win fabulous prizes.

To hype up the celebration, the mall is giving away skincare goodies through its first Instagram giveaway of the year, organised in collaboration with Kiehl’s and its Jom Cuba Kiehl’s campaign.

Just follow Gurney Plaza (@gurneyplazapenang) and Kiehl’s (@mykiehls) on Instagram, like the contest post on both the Instagram pages and tag three friends. Voila! You may be one of the five lucky winners to receive an exclusive Shine Free Skin Soothing Set. Contest runs from Aug 10 to 16.

Additionally, shoppers can look forward to exciting redemption programmes which will run until the end of August.
