State has lowest birth rate in the country averaging at 60,000 babies a year

PENANG has the lowest birth rate in Malaysia with the total fertility rate of 1.3 per woman aged 15 to 49 years old.

This is followed by Sabah and Kuala Lumpur at 1.4 and 1.5 respectively, as compared to the national total fertility rate of 1.8.
