Road widening project to include 10 trees saved from the axe

Twenty-six 30-year-old trees were chopped down along Jalan Universiti, Petaling Jaya to facilitate road widening works, which caused anger among local residents and environmental groups who claimed that they were not given prior notice before the trees were felled.

THE road widening project in Jalan Universiti, Petaling Jaya will continue once Petaling Jaya City Council gives its stamp of approval.

MBPJ Zone 11 councillor Thayalan Krishnasamy said the project, which would be carried out by two developers, would continue with minor adjustments to accommodate the 10 trees that were saved.
