Bar in Taman Tun raided, 20 individuals fined

TWENTY individuals, including four employees of the Shelter Luxe bar in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, were compounded for breaching the recovery movement control order's (MCO) standard operating procedure (SOP) on Friday night (July 25).

Bars are not allowed to operate during the recovery MCO period.

Moreover, Shelter Luxe was found to be operating without a valid licence, according to the police.

Police raided the bar after receiving numerous complaints from nearby residents that the bar operated until 3am.

It was also discovered that the owner of the bar hired illegal foreign workers. These workers were not screened for Covid-19 either.

The workers did not wear face masks, and they also failed to take down patrons' details and temperature.

Twelve bottles of liquor and six sales receipts were seized during the raid.

According to the police report of the raid, the bar had a new owner who used the licence of the previous owner.

The bar also failed to display its liquor licence as stated in the report.
