PETALING JAYA: After a hiatus of almost five months, animal welfare organisations can finally have their outdoor events.

Canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) will finally hold an adoption drive on Sunday (July 19).

"We had rescued many pregnant dogs and puppies off the streets during the MCO and we are thankful that we can finally set about finding homes for them, '' said MDDB volunteer Kavitah Ganasan.

Since shopping malls, where adoption drives were regularly held, are still somewhat out of bounds, MDDB's first post-MCO adoption drive would be held at a veterinary clinic in Petaling Jaya.

The adoption drive will be held at the Gasing Veterinary Hospital in Gasing Indah from 10am to 6pm and some 20 puppies are expected to be there to find their forever homes.

"MDDB is very thankful to Gasing Veterinary Hospital for giving us space at their entrance to conduct the adoption drive, '' said Kavitah.

According to Kavitah, MDDB would also raise funds to pay off some RM40,000 it owed Gasing Veterinary Hospital.

She said the bills will be readily available for potential donors to scrutinise and wellwishers can either pay at the counter or drop it into MDDB donation boxes at the venue.

"Cheques can also be written in favour of the veterinary hospital, '' said Kavitah.
