Earthworks and hill-cutting carried out along the slope in Kampung Besar Berapit in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, have raised concerns among some 2,000 villagers living nearby.
They fear soil erosion could lead to landslide, and those staying downstream in Kampung Tok Elong, Sungai Semambu and Tanah Liat had been hit by flash floods during the current rainy season.
