Penang Hill Corporation (PHC), in a statement, said both annual events would resume in 2021 and their dates would be announced accordingly.
“Since its inaugural event in 2014, Penang Hill Heritage Forest Challenge has earned its reputation as a favourite athletic event that attracts numerous thrill seekers and avid runners from all walks of life.
“The aim of this event is to promote Penang Hill as an eco-tourism destination as well as to raise awareness on environment conservation and heritage preservation in Penang Hill.
“Meanwhile, Trash Free Hill has become a popular plogging event which has attracted numerous experienced hikers since it started in 2018.
“Its objective is to help protect and preserve Penang Hill and its water catchment areas, and to increase public awareness towards keeping Penang Hill clean and rubbish-free.”
PHC said as the Covid-19 pandemic had caused all major tourism events in Penang to be cancelled or postponed, both events had to be cancelled to align with the state government’s decision.
PHC also thanked everyone for their continuous support towards Penang Hill.
