MPAJ: Many private owners of hilly land don’t take timely action to prevent landslip

No periodical maintenance: Last month’s landslide behind houses along Jalan Kelab Ukay 4 in Bukit Antarabangsa occurred on privately-owned land. — YAP CHEE HONG/The Star

WHEN an early morning landslide in Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang on May 30 forced the evacuation of seven households, the local council was blamed for failing to take precautionary measures prior to the incident.

The landslide, which occurred behind the houses along Jalan Kelab Ukay 4, was triggered by heavy rainfall resulting in the soil giving way.
