JOHOR BARU: The Johor Fire and Rescue Department is urging the public to be mindful of the safety of their home and vehicles before leaving for a holiday now that the ban on interstate travel has been lifted.

Its director Datuk Yahaya Madis said there had been cases of homeowners forgetting to switch off electrical appliances or shut off the gas for the kitchen stove when leaving their house, resulting in unwanted incidents such as electrical short-circuit leading to fires.
