THE Wine Shop (TWS) in Penang is opening its doors again, offering flavoursome food paired with fine wines in a ‘chillaxing’ ambience, while adhering to strict safety measures.

Besides table distancing, temperature checking and contactless ordering (scan the QR codes on your tables to load the menus), the whole restaurant is sanitised nightly before closing.

These measures are carried out diligently at the three TWS outlets located in Lintang Burmah in Pulau Tikus, Olive Residency (beside Olive Tree Hotel) in Bayan Lepas and Tanjung Bungah (Hillside).

There are ample offerings to suit diners.

Available from noon to 3pm daily, there is a choice of main, dessert of the day and free flow of coffee/tea (self-service) that is affordably priced from RM18 to RM21.

One popular main dish is deep-fried Hainanese chicken chop which is tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The traditional gravy is enhanced with a dash of white wine for that extra oomph.

The dish is served with a sunny side up egg, fries and coleslaw.

Other mouth-watering mains include spicy tomyam seafood pasta, parma ham burrito with fries, and pork sausage and mash potato with green salad.

Do also look out for the specials such as Hawaiian pork burger, scallop aglio olio, homemade spring rolls, Australian chilled lamb rack, and honeycomb set (honeycomb with cheese and biscuits).

The a la carte menu features an extensive variety of snacks, appetisers, salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, mains and desserts.

Some tantalising choices are bacon rolls, antipasto platter, oxtail soup, salted fish skin salad, wagyu beef burger, smoked duck pizza, spicy caramelised roast pork, and lumpfish caviar.

Also available are homemade cakes.

TWS features side-by-side dining with wine retail (select from over 1,000 labels from around the globe) as well as a delicatessen stocked with imported gourmet meats and artisan cheeses.

The three TWS outlets are open for dining from noon to 10pm (last call at 9.15pm) daily except Sundays.

Operating hours for wine retail at TWS Pulau Tikus are from 9am to 9pm and from 10am to 9pm for TWS Bayan Lepas and TWS Tanjung Bungah.
