Balik Pulau OCPD Supt A.A. Anbalagan said the man, 31, was detained during an operation codenamed Ops Tapis at about 5pm on Sunday.
“Upon interrogation, the man led us to a condominium in Persiaran Bayan Indah where the mini lab was.
“We seized 505gm of heroin and 30.5gm of syabu.
“We also found equipment believed to be used to process drugs such as sealer, orange filter, a blue plastic container, a bunsen burner, a pan and a digital weight,” he said during a press conference at the district police headquarters in Balik Pulau yesterday.
Supt Anbalagan said the man had since been remanded until June 14 to facilitate investigations.
He said police also seized chemicals like chloroform, diethyl ether, hydrochloric acid, Eno Fruit Salt and a yellow dye said to be used to process drugs.
Supt Anbalagan said the man was driving before he was stopped by police.
“We found a small transparent plastic packet in a chocolate paper bag containing lumps and powder believed to be heroin,” said Supt Anbalagan.
“We also found a green bag containing 15 plastic transparent packets filled with a substance believed to be syabu.”
Supt Anbalagan said the drugs confiscated were enough for 18,000 addicts and were meant for the local market.
He said they were now looking for accomplices as the suspect, who tested positive for methamphetamine, was not operating alone.
