TOUCH ‘n Go eWallet and the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) have announced a fundraising collaboration for underprivileged patients who suffer from kidney failure.
The collaboration between the non-governmental organisation (NGO) and e-wallet platform will enable users to contribute towards NKF’S cause — to offer haemodialysis treatment to those in need.
Touch ‘n Go eWallet users in Malaysia can now scan the QR code on NKF’s website and donate an amount, with all proceeds donated directly to NKF.
“It is essential for kidney patients to undergo dialysis treatment three times a week to survive.
“Every year, NKF needs to raise RM26.5mil to subsidise the cost of dialysis treatments for the 1,712 patients at our 27 dialysis centres nationwide.
“The majority of NKF’s patients are generally from the low-income group who cannot afford the higher cost at private medical facilities. So, it is crucial that they have access to affordable dialysis treatment, ” said NKF chairman Datuk Dr Zaki Morad Mohamed Zaher.
As an NGO, he said NKF was grateful for the support and generosity received from Touch ‘n Go eWallet and its users.
“We will ensure that the donations made towards NKF are used prudently so we can continuously carry out our duties for our patients, ” he added.
TNG Digital Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Ignatius Ong said Touch ‘n Go eWallet was consistently identifying ways to give back to the community, especially to those in need.
One of them is being able to provide a much more convenient way for the public to offer financial relief and help to vulnerable communities through local NGOs in its network.
“We want to do our part in supporting NKF’s efforts through our user base of over 10 million by advocating a digital, cashless platform through which donations can be given.
“This is more than just an immediate response, it is a long-term solution.
“Enabling NKF with the Touch ‘n Go eWallet means that they now have a safe, seamless and quicker avenue to receive donations, 24/7, ” said Ong.
Touch ‘n Go eWallet users in Malaysia who are interested in contributing towards the organisation’s efforts for patients can follow these simple steps: save or take a screenshot of the QR code on NKF’s website; tap on the “Scan” function in Touch ‘n Go eWallet; tap on “Scan from Gallery”; select the QR code, and key in the preferred donation amount.
