KUALA TERENGGANU: The absence of squid jigging activity has been a blessing for marine life and considered as its “honeymoon” period.

A senior lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) Fishery and Food Sciences Faculty, Dr Mohd Fazrul Hisam Abd Aziz said the squid jigging season normally starts in April and goes on until Septem-ber but the activity was put on hold due to the Covid-19 outbreak.“The movement control order (MCO) period has given all types of squids time to reproduce without the pressure of excessive fishing activities.
