During the movement control order (MCO), the burden felt by over 21,000 needy folk was eased slightly by the aid provided.
Monetary aid and essential daily necessities were distributed as most recipients lost their source of income because of the MCO that was imposed to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Since the beginning of Ramadan, aid was distributed in stages by TNB employees with the aim of focusing on beneficiaries living in areas near TNB operating locations.
TNB chief corporate officer Datuk Roslan Ab Rahman said the initiative saw employees visiting and helping the less fortunate all over the country.
“Through the involvement of TNB employees, RM4.325mil was distributed since the beginning of Ramadan.
“With this initiative, we hope it will encourage the practice of being grateful, caring and sharing within communities.
“We also hope that it can bring happiness to those who are struggling, especially during this Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” Roslan added.
In addition to easing the burden of affected Muslim groups, some beneficiaries were also from non-Muslim communities.
