PENANG Port Commission (PPC) will cooperate with the state government to ensure the growth of the state’s economy and its people’s welfare.

PPC chairman Datuk Tan Teik Cheng said talks were held during Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow’s visit to the Sultan Abdul Halim ferry terminal on Saturday.

“We had talks about PPC’s operations and the current situation,” he said.

On Tan’s Facebook page, it was stated that Chow had visited the Sultan Abdul Halim ferry terminal to monitor and understand the operations at the port during the movement control order (MCO) period.

Tan said during the visit, Chow was also briefed on the shortcomings that PPC faced during the Covid-19 outbreak.

“We also informed Chow on the steps PPC had taken to cushion the impact and one of them is business diversification.

“Business diversification includes diversifying the port’s marketing strategies by offering various attractive incentives,” he said.

Also present during the visit were Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud, Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB) chief executive officer Sasedharan Vasudevan and PPC general manager Monaliza Suhaimi.
