Veritas Design Group principal Azril Amir Jaafar presented RM50,000 worth of equipment to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) at its Pekeliling office.
DBKL executive director Datuk Ibrahim Yusoff received the items, comprising 25,000 masks, 1,000 face shields and 1,000 bottles of hand sanitisers, from Veritas Design Group as part of the Veritas Fund for Excellence (VFE).
“We appreciate all the work done by all the government agencies, especially DBKL and the frontliners.
“This is our small contribution to stand united with the government and people of Malaysia to combat this virus,” said Azril.
Veritas contributed an additional sum of RM25,000 to the Star Frontliners Initiative.
“With everyone’s help, we are confident that we can overcome the challenges and together we will come out of this crisis stronger,” Azril added.
The donations were also aimed at ensuring that medical frontliners were well protected.
The VFE was founded in 2004 to enhance the company’s core values of constant innovation, commitment to design excellence and social responsibility towards the built environment.
The fund hopes to encourage more design students and teachers to excel in various design fields and eventually contribute towards nation building as architects, designers and educators.
The fund will be channelled to assist students and teachers in local institutions through scholarships, awards, research grants, study stipends, community projects, study trips, design competitions, student seminars and student publications that will promote a culture of excellence as well as enhance public awareness and recognition of design.
The Veritas Design Group has committed to set aside each year a percentage of its annual profit towards the fund, which is supplemented by contributions from some of Veritas’ clients and business associates.
