NATIONAL Heart Institute (IJN) welcomes any form of donation for its frontliners during the Covid-19 pandemic.
It also thanks Malaysians, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and corporations for their help in providing personal protective equipment (PPE) for the frontliners so far.
IJN chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Azhari Yakub was happy that Malay-sians had come together during a time of need to provide support for these heroes.
“We are touched and appreciative of the individuals, NGOs and corporate bodies that have come forward to donate PPE and other aid to not only IJN but other public healthcare facilities as well.”
Dr Azhari said 30 NGOs and corporations had made contributions to IJN.
“A few weeks ago, we were down to two or three weeks’ worth of supply on some of the PPE items.
“Our concern was for our medical personnel. In IJN, we treat heart patients who are susceptible to Covid-19 as well.
“It’s not only about protecting us, but also about protecting the vulnerable, ” he said.
Dr Azhari said face shields, N95 masks, three-ply masks, coverall with hood, isolation gowns and goggles were crucially needed by the medical personnel.
“Now, with slightly improved supplies and donations from concerned individuals and corporate companies, we have enough PPE supply to last us six weeks, ” he said
To donate, call 03- 2617 8315 (IJN Foundation) or 03-2600 6302 (IJN corporate communication department) or via email@example.com. — By SHALENNY CARINO
