Agency gives out face masks for Sarawakians

MIRI: The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) delivered an additional 2.9 million face masks to Sarawak.

Sarawak Disaster Relief Management Committee said these were for distribution to the people throughout the state.

“Those from Nadma will be distributed along with face masks purchased using state allocations, ” the committee said in its latest updates.

Nadma is an agency under the Prime Minister’s office.

The committee said Sarawak Health Department had also received personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontliners fighting the pandemic throughout the state.

“The department also received RM6.5mil from the state government to buy protective gear for doctors, nurses and staff in the 36 government hospitals in the state.

“The items have been purchased and are being distributed, ” the committee said.

Among the items bought using the funds are 50,000 disposable face-shields, 50,000 medical goggles, 50,000 KN95 respirators, 50,040 protective body overalls and 50,040 sets of protective shoes. — By STEPHEN THEN
