A GROUP of five private general practitioners from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Langkawi as well as their friends initiated a donation campaign of personal protective equipment (PPE) to Hospital Selayang frontliners to show their gratitude and support for medical staff leading the fight against Covid-19.

The group donated a total of 4,400 N95 face masks, 2,000 surgical masks, 60 protective goggles, 92 sets of medical grade overalls, 1,000 aprons as well as food and drinks to the hospital.

“As fellow doctors, we understand the importance of PPE in fighting Covid-19 and the urgency of the situation.

“Hence, we decided to support our comrades in the medical fraternity by sourcing and donating PPE,” the group said.

They added that frontliners had been fighting the pandemic with limited PPE amid the worldwide increase in demand as well as intermittent disruption of supplies from overseas.

The items were presented by Dr Ng Kean Seng, Dr Khor Ying Kim, Dr Chang Chee Seong, Dr Lim Chang Sheng and Dr Law Wai Kuan.

They presented the items on behalf of their secondary school classmates and friends who reside in England, Ireland, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan and China.

“As the saying goes, charity begins at home. Thus, we hope our small effort will enable the frontliners to be better equipped when carrying out their work.

“We also hope more Malaysians will come together to fight this pandemic,” they said.
