Sibu airport disinfected to curb spread of virus

SIBU: The Sungai Merah and Sibu Central Fire and Rescue Depart-ment carried out a disinfection exercise at Sibu airport to contain the spread of Covid-19.

The two-hour exercise involved a total of 20 firemen and officials.

Areas in the airport which were disinfected included arrival and departure halls, baggage collection area, VIP room, public area, check-in area, the offices of Sibu Civil Aviation, AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines.

“We want to keep the public who have to be at the airport safe from the virus, ” said Zone 4 Fire and Rescue Department chief Janggan Muling.

During the MCO period, flights from here to Kuching, Miri and Bintulu are still provided but limited.

The department, he added, had also carried out disinfection exercises at the central market and other places frequented by the public.

“We will disinfect more places in stages, ” he said.
