MIRI: The public in Senadin want detailed information on the time and venue for distribution of food aid to the needy.
This is to prevent chaos like what happened at the Sarawak United Peoples Party Senadin (SUPP) office last week.
It involved the public crowding the place hoping to get food packs.
Residents aired their views on the incident over social media, urging the Senadin Supp office to be more organised and efficient in giving out food aid.
“It must be delivered to the correct venue at specified times.
“Senadin SUPP office bearers must be the ones to transport the food aid.
“This will prevent misunderstandings and benefit those who need aid, ” said Anne Chia, a housewife.
During the incident last week, police were called in to disperse a big group of people who crowded the office.
Senadin SUPP chief Datuk Lee Kim Shin said he did not ask residents to gather at his office to collect aid.
“Word must have spread and many came hoping to get aid, ” he said, adding that they will do all they can to help the public while ensuring orderliness. — By STEPHEN THEN
