REFUNDS will be made to Klang traders affected by Selangor’s decision to cancel all Ramadan bazaars.

Klang Municipal Council’s (MPK) Corporate Communications Department director Norfiza Mahfiz (pic) said the council will refund all monies paid for Ramadan bazaar trading permits that were collected before the Covid-19 pandemic.

“As of late Wednesday (April 8) afternoon, our council’s Licensing Department received 170 applications for refunds. We urge all traders to be quick in the application as our staff will need time to verify the details to facilitate the refunds, ” she said.

Norfiza added that there are 1,896 traders in total who had paid for the Ramadan bazaar permits.

Traders are required to furnish details such as copies of bank account numbers, identity cards and

payment receipts made for the lots.

For details, call 03 3375 5555 ext: 6800 from 9am to 4pm.

On another note, Norfiza encouraged hawkers and petty traders to submit their application for the one-off RM500 special incentive under the Pakej Selangor Prihatin Covid-19 and she added that the applications can be made online.

“I must stress that under the Pakej Selangor Prihatin, MPK’s role is to only verify the license or permit number. Matters pertaining to the payment come under the ambit of the Selangor Secretariat.

Each applicant can only apply once even if they have more than one license or permit from different local authorities. Their license must be valid to be eligible, ” she said.

The application window closes 30 days from Wednesday, and applications can be made through www.selangorprihatin.com.
