THE situation at the Ayer Itam market in George Town, has improved following the new ruling to ban roadside hawking at several market complexes, but it was still crowded at the market.

Penang police chief Comm Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan said the situation was now 70% better than before, following the initiative taken by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) to ban roadside hawking around market complexes in Ayer Itam, Bayan Baru, Jalan Perak and Jelutong until the movement control order (MCO) is over.
