Expo to provide guidance for students and jobseekers


SOME 60 private companies and government agencies will take part in the annual Education and Career Guidance Exposition (Ekspen).

It will be held on March 13 and 14 at Dewan Utama Pelajar in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) from 9am to 5pm.

Ekspen aims to guide students and graduates in planning their career paths and in furthering their studies.

Penang Deputy Chief Minister ll Dr P. Ramasamy said the exposition would offer over 2,000 career and industrial training opportunities to the visitors.

“There will be open interviews conducted by the participating companies and agencies.

“There will also be a series of talks and exhibitions for visitors, ” he said during a press conference at Komtar.

USM deputy vice-chancellor Prof Dr Aldrin Abdullah said this was the second time they were co-organising Ekspen with the state government.

“This time, Perkeso and MyCareer@MOE 2020 by the Education Ministry will also join the event.

“At USM, we are proud to announce that the university graduates’ current employability rate stands at 90% based on statistics obtained in 2019.

“We believe that Ekspen this year will not only benefit USM students but also the others, ” he said.

He said they were expecting over 4,000 visitors to the exposition this year.
