PENANG Gerakan members mingled with the press at the party’s Chinese New Year-cum-Media party.

Also in festive mood were Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau and his deputy Oh Tong Keong who is also Penang Gerakan chairman.

Both of them together with other party members spread cheer during a delicious steamboat dinner at the party’s Dewan Satu Hati in Macalister Road recently.

The God of Prosperity also made a surprise appearance at the party to hand out Mandarin oranges and ang pows.

Lau in his speech thanked the media for continuing to support the now independent party.

“We hope to enhance our relationship with the press over time.

“We will support all the media companies by giving them legal aid if they are ever sued by any political parties, ” he said.

Before the end of the party, reporters and photographers played a game called ‘Grab the Red Packet’ with party members.
