AIRASIA and Pestle & Mortar Clothing have launched an exclusive capsule collection themed “PMC x AirAsia: S.E.A. Pride” in Kuala Lumpur to celebrate and champion South-East Asia, its culture and people.

The collection consists of designs from South-East Asian fashion labels and designers – Pestle & Mortar Clothing (Malaysia), Headless (Vietnam), Lisa Mam and Peap Tarr (Cambodia), Mamablues (Thailand), Don’t Blame The Kids (the Philippines ) and Sam Lo (Singapore ).

It is aimed at sparking conversations as the designers were given full creative freedom in expressing the essence of South-East Asia through their eyes, ultimately showcasing to the world what South-East Asian artists have to offer.

Launched by AirAsia Group brand head Rudy Khaw and Pestle & Mortar Clothing chief executive and co-founder Hugh Koh, the capsule collection features clothes and accessory items, namely three designs of unisex T-shirts, a five-panel cap, luggage tag, bum bag and a set of three pins.

“We are pleased to join forces with another successful home-grown brand, Pestle & Mortar Clothing, to elevate the presence of South-East Asian brands in our lifestyle offerings.

“This partnership has opened up opportunities for regional artists and designers to collaborate and showcase their work on our extensive network as well as online, and we hope this will encourage more young designers in Asean to find new ways to express themselves and their rich heritage,” said Khaw.

Koh said Pestle & Mortar was a storytelling company first and a clothing brand second.

“We at Pestle & Mortar Clothing use our apparel as a canvas for stories. We aim to spark conversations through our designs and ultimately show the world what South-East Asia is capable of.

“This collaboration with AirAsia is extremely special to us as we kick off our year-long 10th anniversary campaign with them and at the same time, we get to highlight South-East Asia through the eyes of seven different storytelling artists.”

The new collection will be available for purchase starting Feb 15 on selected AirAsia flights, Major Drop Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya and Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur, as well as via pestlemortarclothing.com and ourshop.com.
