Smart Reader Worldwide hosted some 50 children from Rumah Charis in Kuala Lumpur and Sai Pandian Orphanage Children’s Home in Shah Alam as part of its Chinese New Year celebration.

Present at the event held at the Smart Reader office in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, were Smart Reader Worldwide chief executive officer Datuk Richard Ong as well as other senior leadership team members, including executive directors Kevan Ong and Keefe Ong.

The celebration kicked off with a traditional lion dance and was followed by three festive themed stage performances by children from the Smart Reader Kids centres in Bukit Kuda, Klang, and Desa Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.Subsequently, the children from both the homes and Smart Reader pupils joined the adults in a yee sang-tossing session.

The underprivileged children each received a goodie bag and ang pow from Ong and his management team.

The CSR event by Smart Reader was part of the greater initiative by the company to nurture less fortunate children, one that includes the National One Child One Hope Education Scholarship programme that began in 2009.

The company has distributed more than RM2mil in scholarships nationwide through charitable organisations such as Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra.
