MORE than 500 people enjoyed delicious delicacies and exciting performances at the Bukit Bendera Chinese New Year open house in Penang.
As they tucked into tasty dishes like char koay teow and laksa, the guests were entertained with songs, dances and a Chinese orchestra performance.
In his speech, Bukit Bendera MP Wong Hon Wai said that in his constituency, 64 infrastructure projects worth RM2.4mil had been successfully carried out thus far.
The projects are in Ayer Putih, Kebun Bunga, Pulau Tikus and Tanjung Bungah.
“We have paved roads, upgraded flats, renovated schools and upgraded other facilities.
“Under our welfare project, we have helped 400 poor families.
“We have also organised cultural, education and welfare programmes with NGOs, ” he said during the open house hosted by his constituency at SJK(C) Shang Wu in Jalan Ayer Itam.
Also present at the open house were Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, state women, family development, gender inclusiveness and non-Islamic religious affairs committee chairman Chong Eng, Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman, Kebun Bunga assemblyman Jason Ong, Ayer Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng, Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee, Batu Lanchang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi and Jawi assemblyman H’ng Mooi Lye.
