Overseas guests join locals in Ponggal celebration

SHARING the cultural significance of boiling sweet rice in an earthen pot to give thanks to nature, children and visitors at Shan Children’s Home in George Town enjoyed the Ponggal celebrations as they learnt about the harvest festival.

J. Loogeswarill, 16, who took part in a kolam drawing competition held during the celebration shared how she enjoyed creating the colourful kolam.
