CM: Cherish unity and harmony in drive towards success

THE principles and diversity of religions and cultures that are widely discussed nowadays need to be addressed and handled as well as possible to prevent any unwanted incidents, says Chow Kon Yeow (pic).The Penang Chief Minister said all parties should continue carrying out their responsibilities so that Penang can be a harmonious and united state.

“The harmonious and united people of Penang have provided a solid foundation for the state government to continue to strive for the welfare of the people.

“In the drive towards success, I urge Penangites to put the spirit of unity as the background and guidance in all aspects of our lives.

“Let us cherish the unity and harmony that we have gained since independence.

“We should not underestimate its value until we lose it, ” he said in his Chinese New Year 2020 message on Thursday.

He added that under the Pakatan Harapan state administration, the emphasis on the formation, strengthening and continuous supply of human capital had always been a priority.

“The state government is always concerned about the educational development of all types of streams in Penang.

“Besides, through the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) and the introduction of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education at the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC), Penang Science Cafe (PSC), Tech Dome Penang (TDP), the Penang Digital Library (PDL) and @CAT Penang which have been exposed from childhood to youth, this initiative of human capital development programme had successfully instilled investor’s confidence in Penang’s ample skilled labour resources.

“In line with the state’s commitment, we will see some large-scale infrastructure projects come to life this year.

“The state is committed to continue to drive Penang to its fullest potential and is poised to continue its digital transformation to ensure that its 1.76 million residents here enjoy quality and sustainable living, ” he said in a statement.

Lastly, he wished everyone a Happy Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai.
