GORGEOUSLY set up with red lanterns and the auspicious ‘hulu’ (bottle gourds), the Sunway Carnival Mall main concourse in Seberang Jaya will be abuzz with ‘Bank of Luck’ themed activities and festive offerings from now until Feb 2.
Shoppers will be able to find an assortment of merchandise from dresses to shoes carrying the Chinese New Year theme to elevate their look.
Sunway Carnival Mall general manager Chai Wen Yew said the auspicious ‘Bank of Luck’ theme was chosen to usher in the Spring Festival with abundance of good luck and fortune.
“This unique theme features the calabash or bottle gourd as its main decor to bring auspicious and positive vibes.
“We curated this distinctive concept to convey our well wishes to shoppers with the hope that they will be endowed with good luck, good health and good wealth the whole year.
“Besides that, we also decked up the concourse with a beautiful Chinese garden with an oriental architectural pavilion, cherry blossoms, bamboo trees and red lanterns to elevate the festive mood, ” he said during the official launch of the theme at Sunway Carnival Mall recently.
Cultural activities lined up included programmes like fan painting workshop, lion dance performances, ‘God of Prosperity’ walkabout, tarot reading, calligraphy giveaway and a Chinese orchestra performance.
Penang welfare, caring society and environment committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, who was present during the launch, lauded the mall’s effort in ushering in the festive season.
“Year after year, Sunway Carnival Mall never fails to promote not only shopping, but also a diverse Malaysian atmosphere during each festive season.
“During Raya, there is a Raya decor, during Deepavali, they will have a Deepavali decor as well, and even during Christmas, the mood is brought on without fail.
“So, I believe with this theme, Sunway Carnival Mall can usher in a prosperous mood and become a place everyone wants to be, ” he said in his speech.
The ‘Bank of Luck’ collective theme, which will be ongoing until Feb 2, will also see a range of rewards for shoppers.
Shoppers who spend more than RM288 in two receipts will be rewarded with an exclusive All-Season Prosperity ang pow while those who spend above RM388 in two receipts will receive the ang pow and a Lucky Pouch.
During the season, various festive goods like dried and frozen seafood, festive cookies, gift hampers and barbecued pork slices will also be available at the mall’s lower ground and upper ground floor.
