PEOPLE who have always wanted to wear the lion dance outfit and show their prowess can now do so until Feb 29, courtesy of Baskin-Robbins.
The premium ice cream brand is inviting the public to #BringTheLionHome and #BeTheLionDancer.
Since the 1980s, generations of Malaysian lion dancers have innovated the choreography while continuing the sacred tradition.
Often paired with a musical ensemble of drums, gongs and cymbals, the lion dance is meant to drive away bad luck to welcome the Chinese New Year while bringing a festive atmosphere to its surroundings.
In conjunction with the festive season, Baskin-Robbins will launch the Double Happiness Lion and Prosperity Lion ice cream sundaes. These sundaes come in a red waffle cone with toppings that resemble a lion dance.
Baskin-Robbins will also launch three limited-edition ice cream cakes — Dancing Lion, Fortune Lion and the pineapple-themed Ong Lai. These ice cream cakes also come packaged in a lion dance-themed cake box.
Customers can also enjoy a special 3D lion dance experience through their phones. Take a closer look at the lion dance-themed cone sleeve and cake box and scan the QR code to download an exclusive 3D lion dance, AR lion face filter and fortune vouchers.
Customers also stand a chance of winning a prize by taking a photo of themselves with the filters and uploading it to the Baskin-Robbins website.
