THE Armed Forces Royal Medical Corps Veteran Officers Association organised a gathering for members and their families.
About 100 people met at Qureshi Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur for a night of fellowship and plenty of reminiscing while enjoying northern Indian cuisine.
The association’s members comprise doctors and dentists who served in the Malaysian Armed Forces.
Its president Lt-Kol (Rtd) Dr Jaswant Singh said the main objective of the association was to provide an avenue for veterans to meet and look into their interests, rights and welfare.
A majority of medical doctors, he said, served in the Armed Forces between 15 months and three years.
“We currently have about 140 life members and are trying to locate more retirees so we can invite them to become members, ” he said.
In his welcoming speech, Dr Jaswant singled out association treasurer Kapt (Rtd) Datuk Dr Amarjit Singh Gill and assistant secretary Kapt (Rtd) Datuk Dr Jaspal Manocha for special mention, thanking them for their hard work in making the event a success.
Guests of honour for the night were Defence Ministry medical services director Mej-Jen Datuk Dr Zulkeffeli Mat Jusoh and the dental services director Mej-Jen Datuk Dr Borhan Jasmin.
The main sponsor was C S Thian Sdn Bhd and their representative gave a briefing on Chubb insurance policies, including medical malpractice protection.
