WITH a new year and a new decade upon us, the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) is further cementing its position as the country’s largest trade and exhibition centre with an expansive line-up of upcoming investments in its facilities and amenities that promises to propel MITEC into a higher league as befitting its position as an international conference and exhibition venue.
While a makeover signals the start of an exciting 2020 for MITEC, the venue has benefitted from an extensive investment fit-out in 2019. Some of the refurbishments include the addition of two more rooms with the option of theatre or banquet-style seating, and various other rooms, such as the pre-function lobby, the VIP lounge, board rooms and VIP suites, were given a refreshing interior design upgrade.
Furthermore, several areas of the MITEC building were given a rework, such as central pillar indication in the form of colour coding, allowing visitors to navigate its three double-volume floors with ease.
Designed for people, created to inspire, the refurbished MITEC will be a canvas for any type of event.
The year 2019 also lent MITEC the added honour of having been venue host to some of the most prominent events of 2019, such as the Global Halal Summit 2019, the Asean Super 8, PowerGen Asia 2019 and many more high-calibre gatherings.
Looking forward, there are exciting times in 2020 for this giant of the KL landscape.
Functionality with taste
A mega-structure such as MITEC embodies the two-pronged focus of its management teams when an uplift in structure is effected alongside the modernisation and enhancement of its interior design.
Similarly, the juxtaposition of open spaces with private facilities demonstrates not just the robust functionality of MITEC but also the innate character and visual appeal of the venue.
MITEC’s open spaces contain oases, islands that hold resting points with comfortable furniture within and soothing greenery at its perimeter, breaking the imposing monotony of the steel envelope and providing a pit stop for visitors.
While MITEC is known for its vast event halls, the choice of colour and lighting adds to the charm of these halls, lending dimension to these great spaces.
And speaking of space, the function rooms at MITEC have been transformed to now accommodate up to 550 pax at round tables, making these rooms the perfect choice for conferences, banquets, shows and seminars.
If a space to showcase products, services or programmes is what you need while the event is conducted in the function room, MITEC has thoughtfully provided a multi-purpose exhibition gallery adjacent to the function room, which means visitors and attendees need not be inconvenienced by great distances to visit the accompanying exhibition.
Esteemed visitors such as guests of honour and VIPs will feel far more welcome with MITEC’s newly-upgraded VIP rooms which come with their own private meeting rooms for top-level discussions and private bathrooms for greater privacy and comfort.
Event organisers can feel more assured that important guests will be adequately taken care of in such spaces at MITEC.
It’s in the details
Taking care of visitors and guests in a thoughtful manner runs through the service DNA of MITEC, which has recently upgraded its digital business touch point, its website, from having three languages (English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin) to now including German and Hindi, in a nod to the international make-up of its visitors.
The inclusive approach of MITEC’s teams is also reflected in its line-up of exciting offerings for 2020, specifically, for the festive seasons of Chinese New Year, Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The culinary teams at MITEC have designed menus of cultural diversity, authenticity and temptation to cater to hosts looking for grand spaces to celebrate these special festivals.
Visitors will be able to satisfy their palates at a new Garden Court café at the north entrance, serving as a large oasis at the atrium, creating a networking hub that combines the culture of people with food.
Be it for business or corporate dinners, MITEC has prepared its facilities well to cater to the comfort of its guests, taking care of important details.
The hard work and professionalism of its teams ensure that MITEC retains its position as a leading trade and exhibition centre, one advantage of which is its proximity to the centre of the capital.
The venue’s free commuter bus service has started operations and this will enhance connectivity to MITEC, ensure logistical convenience, peace of mind for visitors and more importantly, go beyond a venue provider. Two 25-seater and 44-seater buses cover MITEC’s precinct and KL city centre, respectively, on a daily basis.
Poised to become a forward- thinking venue that is strategic in its evolution and growth, MITEC goes beyond venue space provision to a business platform where physical and e-commerce intersect in a fitting embodiment of the new ways business is conducted.
