SPORTS Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd will usher in Chinese New Year with the launch of its 33rd annual ang pow donation campaign next week, which aims to benefit more than 19,000 needy senior citizens nationwide.
The six-day campaign will run from Jan 9 to 14.
Qualified senior citizens from Klang Valley, aged 60 and above, who wish to join the campaign launch, are advised to be at Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall in Jalan Maha-rajalela, Kuala Lumpur, before 9am and bring along identity cards for verification purpose.
Sports Toto said it would start distribution of items from 9am to 10.30am on a first come, first served basis.
It also stated that no representatives would be allowed to collect the items on behalf of any senior citizen.
Sports Toto senior communications manager Giam Say Khoon said the Chinese New Year donation campaign was one of the company’s efforts to give back to society.
“We hope all participants will follow our instructions so that we can have a smooth and safe distribution, ” said Giam.
Since the inception of this charitable campaign in 1988, the company has contributed over RM21mil worth of ang pow money and hampers to more than 391,000 senior citizens in Malaysia.
The donation campaign is part of the Helping Hands programme, a corporate social responsibility initiative by Sports Toto to share, give and care for the community.
Qualified senior citizens from outside of Klang Valley will be required to register on an earlier date before the distribution day.
