MIRI: The priceless blessings of family love and peace among the multi-racial society must be cherished, nurtured and protected at all costs.

Miri Mayor Adam Yii said this in his Christmas message to the 370,000 population of Miri district.

He said peace among all races and religions was very important.

Yii, who is also Sarawak United Peoples’ Party information chief, said many events took place this year.

“Miri, as is the case with Sarawak in general, is still very harmonious in terms of race and religion.

“Our multiracial and multireligious unity is second to none.

“On Dec 7, about 45,000 people from all walks of life took part in the 2019 Christmas Parade, ” he said.

Yii said the Miri City Council jointly organised the parade with the 15 Christian churches here.

He said they will also continue to give due consideration to the social needs of the people here.

He advised those working in Miri to find time to go home and be with their families this Christmas.

“There is no better place to spend Christmas than with your family. — By STEPHEN THEN
