AGAINST the backdrop of economic uncertainty, businesses have to find a way to remain afloat.

Entrepreneurs must be resilient to take on challenges and move forward.

With regards to this, the recently concluded 18th Asia Pacific International Entrepreneur Excellence Award 2019 aimed to reward these brave risk-takers.

The event was held at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with the Asia Pacific Book of the Top Recognition.

At the event, 69 entrepreneurs were rewarded for their commitment towards ensuring excellence.

Among the award categories were Excellence Brand, Excellence Product, Excellence Service Quality, Excellence Leadership and Excellence Emerging Entrepreneur.

In his welcome speech, organising chairman and Asia-Pacific Top Excellence Brand Committee (APC) president Datuk Prof Albert Tan said entrepreneurs must be dedicated to remain competitive.

“Businesses must be able to adapt to the changing economic landscape to sustain growth and reach new heights.

“In the past, companies that offered good products and quality services were able to remain afloat.

“However, at present, this is no longer enough. Entrepreneurs must transform their companies into one that is technology-rich and idea-driven in order to build their brands,” he said.

Prof Tan added that a recognition such as the award played a crucial role in strengthening their brand among consumers.

APC honorary chairman and Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Media and Information of Cambodia vice-chairman Senator Chhit Kim Yeat urged entrepreneurs to be innovative to remain relevant.

“The rise in globalisation has vastly increased the interconnectedness of businesses and intensified competition.

“It is important for entrepreneurs to have new strategies to attract investments and new customers,” he said.

Also present was Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming.
