PARADIGM Mall in Petaling Jaya added a feather in its cap by achieving its first induction into the Malaysia Book of Records for having the most number of plush bears on a Christmas tree.
The mall’s “So Much Christmas with We Bare Bears” festive theme this year was reflected in the tree decorated with 1,202 miniature plush bear characters, namely Grizzly, Panda and Ice Bear from We Bare Bears, a popular Cartoon Network animation.
The tree, measuring 8.3m in height and 4.5m in width, was launched in line with the festive season.
WCT Malls Management chief executive officer Selena Chua said Christmas would not be complete without stuffed animals and plush toys.
These bears are up for grabs through the mall’s “Adopt the Bear” campaign.
Patrons can donate RM50 to adopt one plush toy at the concierge counter and the bears can be collected on Dec 29.
All proceeds from the campaign will be donated to the House of Joy, Yayasan Sunbeams Home and Shepherd’s Centre Foundation.
The launch of the tree was also attended by children from House of Joy who were given limited edition “We Bare Bears” merchandise and a meal at Sedap Sedap restaurant in the mall.
Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya assistant general manager Tan Boon Leong said they wanted to bring joy to the less fortunate children during this time of the year.
“We are very happy to host, support and share the joy of Christmas every year with underprivileged children every year, ” he said.
Along with the themed tree, there will also be a “We Bare Bears” merchandise area until
Dec 29 as well as “We Bare Bears” meet-and-greet sessions, other Christmas workshops and performances.
