Deck the malls with sparkly splendour

Suria KLCC is bringing over the European Christmas celebration to Malaysia with its theme, ‘White Christmas Wonderland’.

BE it children or adults, people of all ages are counting the days until Christmas to experience the serene Christmas carols, twinkling lights and delightful sweet treats.

If you cannot get these at home, fear not, for shopping centres and stores in Malaysia are presenting some of the best Christmas experiences to all shoppers.

Suria KLCC

“Snow” falls down on your cheeks and the air is cold when standing in front of the grand Clock Tower in Suria KLCC.

This year, Suria KLCC presents a “White Christmas Wonderland”, aiming to bring the European festive feel to Malaysia.

Marrying both traditional and elegant designs, classic holiday shops surround the grand Clock Tower and hanging in the air are snowy European village-inspired festive decorations to amp up the Christmas spirit.

After experiencing the indoor “snow fall”, visitors will surely gawk at the six-metre Ferris wheel covered in bright fairy lights.

Get into the holiday spirit with Suria KLCC’s tallest Christmas tree replica featuring over 7,000 colourful baubles at Esplanade KLCC, available until Dec 25.

IOI City Mall

The mall in Putrajaya aims to celebrate the different ethnicity and cultures of Malaysia through this year’s Christmas theme, “Sparkle, Shimmer & Shine”.

Inspiring admiration of the beauty of diversity, here the concept represents the unique and precious unity of different cultures as shimmering and sparkling gemstones that shine in their own way.

IOI City Mall general manager Chris Chong said, “We have prepared a long line-up of wonderful performances, fun activities and workshops for the little ones.”

With its pastel decor, the Christmas decorations make good photo opportunities, suitable for capturing precious moments with loved ones.

As Christmas for IOI City Mall is about time for families and friends to spend joyous time together, expect a very sparkly Christmas until Jan 1 next year.

The Gardens Mall

Delve into a dreamy forest with winter “animals” hiding behind the snow-dusted pine trees this year at The Gardens.

While walking on the ground that glistens with sparkling “icicles”, gaze at the hanging chandeliers made of frosty baubles and Christmas trees topped with a flurry of twinkling lights that add to the festive atmosphere.

With its theme “Christmas Dreaming”, The Gardens aspires to bring the joy and wonders of Christmas to its visitors through decorations and fun activities.

Visitors will also get the chance to meet and greet Santa and Mrs Claus so be sure to land on Santa’s good list this year!

Head to The Gardens to catch festive shows with beautiful costumes, fun choreography and toe-tapping music until Dec 25.

Bangsar Village II

Partnering with Nala Designs, whose Christmas collection is inspired by shooting stars, Bangsar Village II aims to spread the festive spirit through its Christmas theme, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Tinsel”.

The mall’s decoration was done by Santa’s little helpers, consisting of various departments working together to create the best Christmas experience.

The items used for the decoration are all recyclable as reusing, recycling and repurposing is a policy in Bangsar Village II.

Aside from the repurposed garlands, baubles and trees, the lights inside and outside the mall are also energy-saving LED lights.

Have a sleighful of fun this holiday season at the shopping centre with carollers from Trinity Methodist Church spreading Christmas cheer on Dec 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 2pm.

Metrojaya Mid Valley Megamall

Metrojaya offers a different take on this year’s Christmas decorations as the team wishes to spoil customers who have been supporting Metrojaya since the 1970s with unique Christmas trimmings.

As Metrojaya has one of the largest Christmas trimmings available in Malaysia, it has prepared various Christmas-themed trimmings to cater to customers’ liking and different tastes, with prices as low as RM3.

There is also a Secret Santa Giveaway, which are gifts randomly given to shoppers amounting to more than 450 presents worth over RM10,000, including items such as jewellery and vouchers.

This year’s theme is “The Star of Christmas”, inspired by the Bethlehem star that symbolises hope and guidance.

The colours displayed in this year’s design represent love, sophistication and modernity, translating to the love Metrojaya has for its customers who have been supporting the company for the past four decades.

More performances and activities are planned for the season, such as Christmas carols and fun hunt for children until Dec 25.

Bangsar Shopping Centre

Visitors can warm themselves with beautiful symphonies while admiring the angels and trumpets suspended in the air at the shopping centre’s main concourse.

An elaborate mix of characters and decorations will help bring the festive spirit to life by showcasing the Christmas theme for this year, “A Nutcracker Christmas”.

Bangsar Shopping Centre hopes to create a comforting environment during the best time of the year for its shoppers through the assembly of angels and nutcrackers.

Most of the decorations used will be repurposed and fabricated to create an entirely new and more exciting structures for future setups.

Visitors can enjoy performances from carollers, live band and ballet troupe as well as take selfies with Santa until Dec 26.
