KL Sports City in Bukit Jalil took on a carnival-like atmosphere featuring music, fitness and fun at The Music Run by CIMB.
Combining the elements of music and running, The Music Run by CIMB took the form of a 5km and 10km running race with more than 100 speakers lining the entire Sound Track circuit, culminating in what is regarded as the world’s best finishing line party.
With a giant stage showcasing local bands — The Venopian Solitude, Ryot Jones, Nik Qistina and the renowned Live The Beat show — the fun and energetic event, held for the sixth consecutive year, saw 20,000 participants revelling in a one-of-a-kind, safe, healthy, fun and sustainable experience.
Dubbed “Asia’s fittest party”, it was also Malaysia’s first carbon-neutral mass participation and the most sustainable running event in the country.
One particularly notable accomplishment was the independent tracking of all greenhouse gas produced during the event.
With the help of CIMB as Presenting Partner of the event, these emissions were offset through an investment in a water filtration project in Indonesia that uses ceramic filters to produce safe drinking water, thus eradicating the traditional requirement to boil water prior to drinking it.
This is a gold standard project, which contributes to United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 13 – Climate Action while benefitting local communities by contributing to at least two additional SDGs.

Advocating for More Fun, Less Waste, this year’s Music Run took an active stance to achieve sustainability goals through their partnership with Visionary Solutions, using proprietary technology by Sweden’s Bluewater, one of the world’s most innovative clean water solution companies.
By providing a revolutionary water distribution system at the event, The Music Run managed to eradicate the need for single-use plastic water bottles.
Participants were given free access to 100% clean, safe and purified drinking water at the event, using reusable water bottles provided by CIMB at stations strategically placed at the venue.
The initiative has potentially prevented 80,000 single-use plastic water bottles from entering landfills and oceans.
The organisers also successfully eliminated more than 40,000 pieces of single-use plastic wrapping from items in participant run packs, including T-shirts and medals.
