Lavish spreads of festive delicacies await diners

Festivities will be extra sweet with the heartwarming selection of Christmas desserts.

HOLIDAY magic pervades the lavish festive buffets of Sarkies restaurant at Eastern and Oriental (E&O) Hotel in Penang.

Savour a smorgasbord of classic Yuletide flavours and special house recipes as you make merry with loved ones and friends.

The spreads are a hit with crowds every year, so book your seats early – starting with the Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner priced at RM309 for adults (A) and RM160 for children (C).

The indulgence continues with the Christmas Day Buffet Luncheon at RM179 (A) and RM90 (C), and Christmas Day Wine & Dine Buffet Dinner at RM259 (A) and RM130 (C). Menus vary slightly.

Among the starters are Galantine of Turkey, House Marinated Salmon, Nicoise Salad with Grilled Sabah Tuna, Sous Vide Fennel and Orange Quinoa Salad, Classic French Onion Soup and seafood on ice.

Roast Turkey with cranberry jelly and giblet gravy is the Christmas must-have. Several helpings of the juicy Oven Baked Rib Eye with your preferred sauces, vegetable sides and Yorkshire pudding, would not be remiss either.

Hot mains include Fish Cartoccio, Homemade Meatballs, Oven Roasted Marinated Chicken, Lamb Osso Bucco, Slow Braised Beef with Beans Ragout and Mixed Seafood Lasagna.

Make festivities extra sweet with desserts like Strawberry Bavaroise, Chocolate Pear Chiboust Creme Tart, Vanilla Mango Panna Cotta, Berry Eclairs, Chocolate Yule Logs, Panettone, Chocolate Santas and gingerbread.

End the decade on a high with the New Year’s Eve Countdown Buffet Dinner featuring a live band at RM380 (A) and RM190 (C).

The New Year’s Day Buffet Lunch selling at RM99 (A) and RM50 (C) is also a great start for 2020.

Lunch spreads are served from noon to 3pm while dinner is from 6.30pm to 10pm. Diners can also enjoy free flow of Prosecco, house wines, beers and spirits with additional charge.

In the newly refurbished Heritage Wing, Java Tree offers Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve Set Dinners, as well as a Christmas Day Set Lunch. Prices start from RM200 onwards.

Meanwhile, the Palm Court offers Champagne Afternoon Tea from 3pm to 5pm on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day – at RM210 per set.

The hotel also offers Festive Take Aways from Sunday to Dec 25.
