MEET childhood favourite Doraemon at Penang’s iconic entertainment tower – The Top@Komtar – from now to Feb 9 next year.
A total of 30 human-sized figures of the popular Japanese manga character are featured in an exhibition, alongside the character’s famous secret gadgets like Anywhere Door, Take Copter, Guardian Angels and Small and Big Lights, among others.
Earlier, some 60 children from non- governmental organisation – Penang Stop Human Trafficking Campaign – had a wonderful time with Doraemon and were mesmerised by a beautifully-decorated Christmas tree.
The recent meet-and-greet session was organised by The Top@Komtar and Inti International College Penang.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who was also present, said it was a season of celebrations, honouring both cultural and religious traditions, and looking forward to new beginnings in 2020.
“Everybody deserves a good time this Christmas, and the management of The Top should be commended for lining up exciting events for the holiday season.
“These events would further boost tourism in Penang and The Top has always managed to attract tourists from around the world, ” he said.
Chow said the New Year countdown and the spectacular 360-degree fireworks organised by the company at the height of 249m above sea level would be the fitting beginning for the Experience Penang 2020.
Also present were Only World Group Holdings Berhad founder and chief executive officer Tan Sri Richard Koh, co-founder and chief operating officer Puan Sri Jean Koh and Animation International (M) Sdn Bhd director Steve Chow.
