Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) celebrated its 27th anniversary with a gala dinner themed “Be A Star” at One World Hotel Petaling Jaya.

The event welcomed more than 1,100 guests, most of whom were business leaders, benefactors and mentors. Guest of honour was Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof.

The glitzy evening saw activities such as Signing on the Wall, Make-up Scene, Director on Sight and Welcome Star.

After welcoming guests, MRCA president Datuk Seri Garry Chua said MRCA had grown from a humble association led by visionary retail leaders to become a progressive and highly influential force in the retail industry.

“It provides a platform for members to share their knowledge and experiences, thus supporting one another and the growth of the industry, ” he added.

Today, MRCA has an all-time record of more than 530 members who have expanded locally and internationally and are competing with international brands.

With such a strong organisation of leading franchise and retail store operators covering more than 30,000 outlets throughout Malaysia, these members help provide over 150,000 job opportunities to Malaysians across the country.

Chua also commended organising chairman Datuk Vincent Choo and his committee for putting up an exciting show.

Later, he presented a token of appreciation to dinner sponsors and MRCA corporate patrons Maxis, Fusionex and RHB Bank.

Choo said the annual dinner was a good time to look back on MRCA’s achievements, the good and hard times, and the lessons learned.

“It is a time to be grateful for all these things. Also for our good health, the people in our lives, our country and the opportunities it gives us, ” he added.

MRCA organises many activities such as charity fundraising through its charity run, charity golf and visits to charitable organisations as well as business trips for overseas collaborations.
