OVER 1,500 participants along with 300 families of persons with autism dashed in pink along the tracks of Metropolitan Batu Park in Kuala Lumpur.
“Love and Beauty Run for Nasom” hit its fourth year with Mary Kay (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd collaborating with National Autism Society of Malaysia (Nasom) to create awareness of autism and acceptance towards the autism community.
Mary Kay (Malaysia and Singapore) general manager Khor Lee Fan was thankful to Nasom for the continuous collaboration and providing the organisation with a platform to give back to society.
She added that the event was part of ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts, which was in line with its core values in giving back to society.
Nasom chairman Feilina Feisol was grateful for Mary Kay’s support in helping the autism community.
“We provide assistance to persons with autism by educating, training and even counselling.
“We also have a vocational programme to expand their skill sets. For instance, in baking, food preparation, laundry, sewing and more, ” said Feilina.
At the event, Mary Kay donated RM50,000 to Nasom raised from the Eau So Cute fragrance sales.
Khor said a portion of the sale from the product chosen for the year would be channelled towards charity every year in conjunction with the birthday of Mary Kay Inc’s late founder Mary Kay Ash in May.
“We are not just about selling things, with this initiative, we are ‘selling’ hopes for those in need as well.
“We hope to bring more attention to the autism community and make a difference to those in need, ” added Khor.
