SOME 20,000 visitors are expected at Perak’s inaugural International Expo (Piex) 2019, which will take place from Nov 14 to 17.

State investment, industrial and regional development committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said visitors would include both local and foreign trade delegations.

He said the organising committee had received confirmation of attendance of delegates from China, Hong Kong, India and Taiwan.

“We look forward to welcoming members of the public as well.

“There will be about 400 exhibitors from 26 countries, including China, Japan, Brazil, German, Sweden, Belgium and Taiwan, during the four-day expo, ” Mohammad Nizar said at a press conference at the State Secretariat building.

Piex 2019, to be held at Stadium Indera Mulia, is set to be the largest integrated trade exposition in the state comprising four other major events – the Pangkor Dialogue, Pride of Perak bazaar, Perak Startup Festival and Perak International Halal Expo.

The expo was co-organised by InvestPerak and Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with Institut Darul Ridzuan and Tourism Perak as co-hosts.

It is also supported by the Perak Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Perak Indian Chamber of Commerce, North Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry Perak Branch and Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers Perak Branch.

Mohammad Nizar said Piex 2019’s main objective was to promote Perak as a trading and investment hub in the region.

“It is also a platform for potential investors to meet up and discuss with companies and agencies the possibilities of investing in the state.

“The state hopes to see the involvement of Perakians, especially local entrepreneurs, at the expo.

“There will be seminars, product showcases by some 600 brands and countless chances of networking, ” he added.

There will also be five themed pavilions highlighting the halal industry, “Love my Palm Oil” campaign, My Rumah Perak-ku, Pride of Perak and Investment Promotion and Industry Development.

The expo will be held from 10am to 10pm, daily. — By ILI AQILAH
