IT was a premier soiree that brought together a distinguished audience to celebrate the launch of Art of Time 2019 by Swiss Watch Gallery.

The evening gathering held at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur saw more than 200 guests wining, dining and admiring the haute couture timepieces.

Currently in its sixth edition, the annual luxury watch showcase returns to pay tribute to the world of watchmaking.

Recreating the experience of Switzerland’s prestigious watch fair, the Art of Time showcase offers a glimpse into the world of haute horology through jaw-dropping craftsmanship and technical wonders that are sure to appeal to watch aficionados and draw the interest of new fans.

This year features some of the finest timepieces by 12 luxury timepiece brands as well as customised watch winders by specialist Orient Crown.

Valiram Group executive director Ashvin Valiram said, “Since its inception in 2011 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Swiss Watch Gallery, what started as an idea to create something special by offering the experience of Switzerland’s prestigious watch fair from Basel or Geneva to the Malaysian public, Art of Time has become Malaysia’s premier watch exhibition.

“With every edition, we at Swiss Watch Gallery take it upon ourselves to make it even bigger and better, bringing to Malaysians timepieces that will further fuel their passion for watches.

“We are also celebrating our 18th year in business. When we opened our first watch boutique in Penang in 2001, we never expected to become a preeminent watch retailer in the country.

“We could not have done this without all your support, for believing in us, helping us grow from strength to strength and making us the leading Malaysian-owned watch retailer today.

“Swiss Watch Gallery is indeed a young adult now and we look forward to further strengthening the business beyond the shores of South-East Asia, ” added Ashvin.

Art of Time 2019 celebrates “Icons of Time”, which does not only refer to the exquisite timepieces on show but also five Malaysian personalities who are celebrated in their respective fields.

In keeping with the spirit of great Swiss master watchmakers, the five have been selected for their dedication to the pursuit of excellence.

These icons, spanning entrepreneurship, art and sport, will be part of Swiss Watch Gallery’s 2020 campaign and their names will be revealed early next year.

Brands participating in this year’s showcase include Bell & Ross, Graham, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaquet Droz, Oris, TAG Heuer, Tudor and Zenith, while Girard-Perregaux, Arnold & Sons, Parmigiani Fleurier and Ulysse Nardin are joining for their first time.

Visitors will find a display of magnificent watches, including noteworthy pieces such as the Jaquet Droz Tropical Bird Repeater, Arnold & Son’s Time Pyramid Tourbillon in red gold, Girard-Perregaux Bridges Cosmos, IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Tourbillon Rétrograde and the Tonda 1950 Tourbillon from Parmigiani Fleurier.

There will also be a special booth featuring state-of-the-art watch winders from Orient Crown besides a specially designed Tumi pop-up showcasing the ultra-exclusive Tumi X Chris Pratt collection inspired by the Hollywood actor’s personal packing style.

Other highlights include Jaquet Droz master enameller at work, a virtual reality experience by Oris, a watch masterclass by Girard-Perregaux and an Italian coffee experience by illycaffe.
