MALAYSIA is in the global spotlight once again as 45 beauties from all over the world have converged here for the Miss Tourism International 2019 World Final.

The participants are involved in promotional activities and events designed to promote Malaysia as a tourist destination for 2020.

Organised by D’Touch International, this year’s Miss Tourism International marks its 22nd edition.

Miss Tourism International president Tan Sri Danny Ooi said the event fostered friendship and cultural ties among the participants.

“In conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2020, Malaysia expects to receive 30 billion visitors next year.

“With the theme ‘Promoting Tourism, Culture and Friendship’, I hope this pageant will show the world that Malaysia is one of the most beautiful and peaceful countries,” he said.

Miss Tourism International is a home-grown pageant that has been franchised to more than 100 countries.

Besides the main title winner, four runners-up will be accorded the titles Miss Tourism Queen of The Year International, Miss Tourism Global, Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International and Dreamgirl of the Year International.

There will also be a special award, Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassadress.

Miss Tourism International 2018 Astari Indah Vernideani, from Indonesia, said she was grateful to be a part of the Miss Tourism International pageant as it was a platform for her to share her contribution.

“I have been travelling to other countries for tourism promotion such as New Zealand, Macau, Vietnam and of course Malaysia.

“Malaysia is considered my second home and it is always exciting for me to be here,” she said.

Miss Tourism International gold sponsor Limkokwing University of Creative Technology signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with D’Touch International to provide RM4mil in scholarships to all winners and participants of D’Touch International Pageant Titles World Final for five years from 2019 to 2023.

Agape ATP is the presenter of this year’s Miss Tourism International 2019 World Final and Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa is the official hotel and venue.

Other sponsors include Sunway Pyramid mall in Petaling Jaya, Sogo Kuala Lumpur, Gintell, Carlo Rino and Focus Point.

The crowning of Miss Tourism International 2019 will be held at Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa at the grand final gala dinner and show on Nov 8 with celebrity judges and performances from the participants.
